Campaign to cut lorries through villages

by Gareth Wilson on 6 August, 2019

Local campaigner wants to see action from District Council Local Councillor Gareth Wilson said, “Every day I see children being taken to school along narrow footpaths with HCVs (Heavy Commercial Vehicles), Juggernauts passing just inches away from them. “The A1123 is a busy road that is used by HCVs day and night, rat running through our villages instead of staying on the major routes, the A14 and the A142. “I am a member of the local HCV group and the leaders of this group have met with the County Council Highways officers to discuss ways of improving residents’ lives by getting TROs (Traffic Regulation Orders) in place, to limit weight access, except for local deliveries. “I will continue to try and find ways of restricting these huge 12 to 16 wheeled heavy goods vehicles coming through our villages.”
