54 houses on the site off West End for the CLT are about to be started soon (with 19 affordable houses) Planning applications have been submitted for 33 Houses in Metcalf Way and 48 houses on the site of Ansons., The application for 30 houses off Bury Lane has been turned down, but the developer has appealed to the government inspector. Now a new speculative development for 118 houses in Wilburton Road has been submitted despite having been rejected previously.
The Conservative attitude of penny pinching meant that East Cambs District Council let its planning team go and left us vulnerable to unscrupulous developers putting in planning applications in unsuitable places with the chances that they will be accepted.
Sometimes they can be refused, but then they can appeal to a London based Inspector, who can overturn the local decision.
The Tories allowed our District Plan to be termed “unsound” and then tried to get a new plan and eventually, after spending three years and £330,600 have scrapped their new plan. Money wasted!!!
